Mieke Eversteijn

Mieke graduated from the University of Utrecht in 2001 (Dutch Civil Law), specializing in Criminal Law. Before joining VMW Taxand (Van Mens & Wisselink at that time) in 2007, Mieke worked several years for the Public Prosecutor’s office in appeal in Arnhem.

Mieke works in criminal law focusing on fraud cases (financial-, tax- and economic criminal law), e.g. money-laundering, forgery of documents and tax offences but also punitive administrative sanction law. She litigates for companies, company executives and their employees in Dutch Courts and advises (inter)national clients.

She provides legal assistance at all stages of criminal proceedings: at ‘dawn raids’ (searches), during the interview of clients as a witness or a suspect by special investigation officers (e.g. FIOD-ECD), during negotiations with the Public Prosecutors Department on out-of-court settlements and during court hearings.

Mieke was admitted to the Amsterdam Bar in 2007 and she is a member of the Dutch Young Bar and de Dutch Organization of Young Criminal Defence Lawyers (NVJSA)
