Elsje completed her bachelor degree at the University of Amsterdam in 2007. In December 2008 she finished her dissertation for a master degree in Competition Law at the London City Law School. In November 2010 Elsje completed her private law master at the University of Amsterdam.

Elsje joined VMW Taxand in February 2011. She is mainly involved in commercial disputes and intellectual property law.
